Midterm
The midterm will be take home. You may use any resource you like to take the exam but you may not ask any other person for help with the exam.
The exam will be due back at the beginning of class later.
We'll hold a review in class before the exam is passed out.
Topic List from 2007. Will change for 2008, but gives you an idea.
The exam will cover a subset of the following topics:
- Basic math for graphics like linear algebra and trig.
- z-buffering
- Scan line conversion
- Numerical stability in scan line conversion and z-buffering.
- Near and far planes in the z-buffering algorithm
- Derivation of tranformation matrics such as the rotation, translation and scaling matrices.
- Computational issues in computer graphics for the topics we've covered. For example how did computational issues influence the design of the scan line conversion algorithm, Cohen-Sutherland clipping algorithm and use transformation matrices.
- Viewing transformations.
- Window to viewport transformations.
- Homogeneous coordinates: what are they used for and why are they a good idea?
- Color and shading.
